Chapter 13 cases, however, depend on how complex your specific case is, so there’s a wider range, with the average fees falling in the range of $3,300–$5,000 (see this article on Lawyers.com).
Low-income folks who make less than 125% of the federal poverty level might qualify for free legal assistance to file bankruptcy. Every state has legal aid organizations to help with this.
